How to properly set up and configure your Cardo intercom?
Just got your Cardo intercom and want to get the most out of it from the very first ride? Here's the complete setup guide—pairing, volume, voice commands, app—so you don't miss a thing.
Step 1: Fully charge before first use
First and foremost, charge your Cardo to 100% using the provided USB-C cable. The first full charge determines battery longevity. Allow approximately 2 hours for a full charge.
Step 2: Pair your phone (Bluetooth)
- Press and hold the main button until you hear the pairing signal.
- On your phone, enable Bluetooth and select your Cardo model from the list.
- Confirm pairing—you'll hear an audio confirmation.
Once paired, your Cardo automatically reconnects every time it's turned on.
Step 3: Pair a second rider (intercom)
To communicate with another rider:
- FREECOM 2X/4X: intercom pairing mode via a double long press on the dedicated button.
- Packtalk Edge: automatic Mesh connection—simply activate Mesh on both devices, they will find each other automatically.

- In the Cardo Connect app, you can equalize frequencies according to your helmet and cruising speed.
- Activate the automatic volume mode: the Cardo automatically increases the sound with speed.
Step 5: Configure voice commands
The Cardo integrates a voice-activated assistant:
- Say "Hey Cardo" to activate the assistant.
- Available commands: "Call [contact]", "Music", "Navigation", "Intercom".
- Compatible with Siri and Google Assistant depending on your phone.
Step 6: The Cardo Connect app—essential
Download the Cardo Connect app (iOS / Android) to:
- Update your intercom's firmware.
- Customize button shortcuts.
- Configure music, navigation, and Mesh groups.
- Access ride statistics.
Tips for an optimal experience
- Position the speakers correctly facing your ears—poor placement severely degrades sound quality.
- Update the firmware regularly via the app: Cardo constantly improves stability and features.
- In a group: on Packtalk Edge, Mesh 2.0 automatically manages connections—no need to reconfigure everything for each outing.
